Sharpham Pinot Noir 2018

19.00

A Pinot Noir that showcases both the incredible quality of the 2018 vintage and also the potential of red winemaking in the UK.

The fruit was hand picked and partly de-stemmed before cold maceration for four days. Ferments started in open topped tanks before being transferred to stainless steel. The wine went through partial malolactic fermentation and was mature in second fill French oak barrels for 3 months.

The resulting wine is light but bursting at the seams with red cherry, raspberry and blueberry on the nose and also a touch of sweet spice. The palate is similarly juicy and full of ripe red fruits but is kept in check by firm tannins and a lifting acidity.

Drinking well in its youth but we feel some bottle age could also benefit.
